Layton, Utah. June 3, 2021 - The Crystal Dezember Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. has donated $12,000 to the Weber State University TAPT (Teacher Assistant Pathway to Teaching) program.

This donation marks the first contribution from the fund, which has pledged a minimum of $24,000 in donations over the next two years to the TAPT program at Weber State University.

“Three months after losing her courageous battle with ovarian cancer, we are honored to keep Crystal's legacy alive with this donation in support of future educators,” said Brody Dezember, husband and Fund Director. Crystal's family and friends continue keeping her memory alive through countless acts of selfless kindness and giving.

TAPT is a unique program that provides paraeducators, also known as teacher assistants, the financial support and mentoring needed to become fully licensed teachers. The purpose of the TAPT program is to provide a path for Special Education, Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, ESL or Bilingual employed teacher assistants or other employed school district personnel to become highly qualified, skilled teachers in area schools.

The Crystal Dezember Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established in March of 2021 to honor the memory of Crystal Dezember. Crystal lost her two year battle to ovarian cancer on March 1, 2021. She made an incredible impact on each person she came in contact with throughout her life.
